I guess I might as well post this here. An Italian friend is flying to Thailand soon. The following is an extract of our Skype conversation:

Her: fiumicino airport is in disarray
Me: ?
Her: terminal 3 was burnt down a few months ago
Me: rofl

Seriously, has anyone ever heard of a *terminal* burning down? A hanger, yes, but what the fuck. The Italians...

Pic unrelated.

It's how you have to talk to women online.

There's a reason lasses often put 'hahahaha' at the end of their own posts.

You know, I've always shied away from initialisms when conversing in text, but recently I've come to see their purpose. They facilitate what would normally exist as non-verbal communication. They're used almost as a cohesive glue. When we talk we expect feedback from our listeners, to let us know that they're listening, are understanding and remain interested. It's easy to be a contrarian and pretend they're not useful or to devise functional alternatives, but personally, I'm going to join the normies.

TTYL.
