21563 Short Films
It looks like the old thread fell off the catalogue but Neill Blomkamp have been releasing a series of experimental short films that are insanely good. He's doing youtube installments of concepts to try and bypass controlling studios.

>Firebase
>Sci-Fi/Horror
Set in the Vietnam War. What the locals have called a river God goes on the warpath while having some sort of control over the fabric of reality.

>Rakka
>Sci-Fi/Action
In 2020 Alien lizards take over the Earth and push mankind to the brink of extinction as they use people for human experiments and start changing our planet to suit them. Staring Sigourney Weaver.

All respect to Ms. Weaver but watching Rakka feels like an episode-length Previously on...

The conversation between Ripley and the Mad Bomber is awful, sound like it was written by an amateur.

The fire base thing has great effects but also feels adolescent in terms of plot/back story.

A girl falls for a tuba player. It has that style to it that you get in Wes Anderson films. Very enjoyable.

I've been on an Alan Clarke binge, so I figure that you two might as well be made to suffer as well.

It's kind of entertaining. Also I think that's a female David Mitchell.

Thanks, it's like Aesop's Fables meets The Mighty Boosh Show. I feel somewhat enlightened.

Although I can't help but feel like a poo monster would be in favour of poo being left everywhere.

Goddamn why was New Vegas such a good setting?

Anyway there's a good ongoing series following the battle of HELIOS One - I'll just show you when the drugs start showing up:

This is good, comparable to the Astartes series.

New Vegas is a pretty good setting. However, is this why people like it? Because of what a good shooty-bang-bang time it is? Showing me the battle of Helios One doesn't really do anything for me, because it's people shooting each other. I knew that already. It's all the, ahem, fallout as a result of the battle that's interesting.

I don't know. I'm very down on the Fallout setting these days and I don't think the people making an animation where a load of people shoot each really understand why it was interesting in the first place.

Neither do Bethesda.
Wasteland 3 was very good for a game that actually "gets it".

Yeah, I know Bethesda don't get it. What did you think I was talking about? And I just watched the trailer for Wasteland 3 and I've got to say, I'm not impressed. It looked and sounded a lot more The Walking Dead TV series meets Marvel's The Avengers than Fallout 1997.

I think the big lesson here is do something original rather than recycling that which came before. But we all knew that already.

How so? It looks like every other RPG with overprocessed lighting and colours. Only £6 at the moment though, so maybe I'll take a look.
