Should we re-erect the Great Firewall?

Nah. The mods do a decent enough job, I reckon.

I quite like the shitposters in /zoo/, they give the place a certain je ne sais quoi.

It's not got quite to the point where we need a wall. Most of the spam is coming from American and Dutch IPs and is easily manageable.

The foreigners are harmless, if contained to /zoo/.

Why do you ask?

I've not noticed any more spam than usual, not counting that irritating gasthief in /zoo/ with a chip on his shoulder about the vodkafags.

No reason to keep the Anglosphere out, in my opinion. The laws are similar and I'm not familiar with there being some plague of US or AU spammers.

To post an example here I would guess.

More to the point, why screenshot spam but not report it, (which I had to do over an hour later)?

In case it wasn't already obvious, decapitated bodies are not "Safe for Work" unless you happen to be a forensic anatomist.

What's the point in reporting summat that's obviously going to be deleted the instant the mods clock it?

I don't continually refresh .gs, I do however continually refresh the report page which is why it's important for the userbase to take an active role in keeping the site maintained.

I'm busy organising my life, etc. So are the rest of the Mods. Believe it or not we're all, mostly, pretty well adjusted members or society. We only have a few "full timers" but even then we're not omnipotent and have TV to watch and books to read, if you don't include purple, but purple, praise be upon him, doesn't tend to moderate That's what he pays us, figuratively speaking, to do so if he bans you, you know you've fucked up.

To be banned by purple, praise be upon him, is to annoy a man who has seen it all, done it all, and has a laminated ego; it's almost impressive when it happens, but you'll never know it's him. He is a silent assassin and he reserves the Holy purple Text and his wroth for rare miscreants.

Yeah I was around for both of those, but I reported them, they disappeared, and on we went. Hardly an unbidden torrent of spam that neccessitates an IP-level filter.

I know there's a lot of weird Notting Hill Festival spam happening right now but I just went over to 420chan and they have a constant flow of CP spam. Their mods are (mostly) on it, but still. We're ok for now.

It would probably help if the URLs were shitlisted, so that the spammers don't get to come back and post the exact same images with the exact same URLs. It would take a very determined spammer to sit around, wait 60 minutes and try again.

Cause it does help when I'm checking the site. As mentioned before, I grew up and got myself a life and family to look after, so I'm not on the site as often as I used to be. The report list gets checked first if I can't be bothered/don't have the time to check through /*/ for spam every day. If people report stupid shit then the blame for that lies with the dickheads clicking report for something that prickles their whinge glands, not the ones checking where the reports end up.

In fairness, I got the image directly from the New York Times and it wasn't very gory. I didn't notice it was beheaded til after the ban. Also, I've just gotten back after nearly 6 months

I'll be more attentive in the future though.
