How often do you keep clothes for?

I've realised today that I haven't bought a single item of clothing in 2014, I think the last thing I bought was a duffle coat towards the end of last year. Most of my shirts are from 2012 and I have at least two from 2007, although they are rarely worn.

The picture isn't really related, but the world needs more Dave Benson Phillips.

Most of my fat clothes are from between 2011 and 2012. I just can't bring myself to spend money on tent-clothes. All of my 40" jeans are at least 2 years old. I did buy a pair of 3/4 length cargo shorts in a 42" this year, because I just gave up and accepted my fat self.

I do have a box of £80+ shirts and £100+ jeans in sizes L and 34" from back in the day though, so I haven't completely given up hope.

When I was a decent size, I was spending upwards of £100 a month on clothes because it was an enjoyable experience.

I had the set of clothes when I was fat for about 5 years, only occasionally buying new ones. I've lost a lot of weight this year so I had to spend money on new clothes as my old ones were starting to look clownish. I've even bought some smaller stuff as a target. I wear clothes until they pretty much fall apart.

I've got a leather jacket that I've had for 18 years or so and that was second hand at the time. I've got plenty of T-shirts and hoodies that are over 10 years old, I'll wear anything until it gets too tatty.

I've watched some documentary about the exploitation of women in Cambodia, Bhutan, Bangladesh and so I've began to think if it makes any more sense in buying cheap stuff from H&M and the like.

I like charity shops, for one, but overall - Every 2 months or so I feel like getting something.

The zip is starting to go on my work trousers. It looks like I'll finally have to replace them; I've been wearing them regularly since autumn 2013.

Why not just replace the zip?

I think I've got my money's worth out of them; they were part of a 2 for £20 set from Burton and I got student discount on top of that.

Just yesterday I put on a t-shirt and realised that I had bought it 15 years ago.

I have a 22 year old jumper. Stills gets a run out now and then.

I have a load of t-shirts from bands that mostly no longer exist, from about fifteen years ago. Nothing makes me feel older or reminds me more of my faded youth.

Amazingly the bloke from Johnny Foreigner is still going though.
