Horrible advice. How is he going to find a powerful Germanic woman in America? When was the last time you saw a Frenchwoman with massive thighs and an arse capable of driving them?

It's the South of Germany or into Benelaux. Your strong sons will thank me.

Not him but Italians will treat you well if you bother to use Italian and show an interest in their culture. They're one of those nations where you can really flatter the ego with simple effort. Can't say I'd want to live there though because everyone is loud, chatty and corrupt.

Go somewhere nice like Trento or Trieste.

Like half of white Americans are descended from Germans and Germanic peoples, and many look as such (in sort of rural areas at least). And then most German people I meet are tanned and have dark hair and brown eyes, obviously Mr. Hilter really fucked it and put his eggs in the wrong basket.

I'm not convinced Germans were ever particularly "Aryan", it doesn't make a lot of sense given the stereotypical appearances of the countries they share land borders with. That whole propaganda thing was just them larping as scandies.

From what some German friends have told me, Northern Germans were traditionally more the blonde or ginger types with green or blue eyes, whereas people in Bavaria and the Alps usually had darker hair and brown eyes. I guess that was in the old days before people started travelling around.

And it would make sense, after all, the Angles who came to Britain were from Anglia in northern Germany, and their descendants in Britain today are more or less people with lighter skin and hair.

>That whole propaganda thing was just them larping as scandies

Ironically, Hitler himself was notoriously secretive about his own ancestry. He ordered all government propaganda to omit anything more than vague information about his upbringing and family. While all SS and higher government officers who were career minded had to produce family trees going back many generations as proof that they at least had no Jewish ancestry.

Ancient latin seems such a beautifully abstract language compared to English - why don't we speak it?
My understanding of peoples personal ethics feels vastly improved when I investigate the etymology of their words - even if they don't know that root meaning themselves.

Check this out: optimism and optimise in English have two significantly different meanings - the latin root 'optimus' apparently means 'best' or 'very good', which makes as much sense, if not more, in both applications of the English.

It's like our language is encoded with morality. 'cult' is bad but 'culture' is good, despite both meaning 'to grow'. The language is no longer a tool but a purpose. Is this what Orwell meant when he said that thing about languages restricting thought?

Could it be that by going far enough back we can find a language that simply exists as a single limitless expression, conveying every possible meaning at once but solely applicable to exactly both the hearer and speakers intentions?

Oook?

This got me thinking. Is nigger/nigga the only word in the English language that can mean a multitude of things depending on who's saying it and what kind of tone and pronunciation they employ?

Americans are really a different breed. Regular people there are often just as nice or annoying as people back home, if a bit easily excited. But you will experience that American customer service is about as revolting as "American nice" gets. That kind of poorly masked, insincere, exuberant and at the same time emotionally vapid frozen smile with which Murrikins will sell you anything from a hire car to a burger menu just makes you feel strangely violated. I prefer an awkward chat with the disinterested girl at the till in my local shop who can't be arsed to keep eye contact to that kind of Barbie-doll, push-button friendliness any day.

I think they failed in Germany because of labour laws mainly. Wal-Mart is one of those American companies that set up shop in a country first, and ask questions later, and hope that their lawyers will sort things out (Uber is another one). They have actively contributed to the erosion of worker's rights in over a dozen countries that way, by winning court cases and lobbying legislation. Germany traditionally has very tight labour laws and strong unions, and Wal-Mart failed with its usual approach. At some point they just decided to cut their losses and retreat, because as a company basically founded by a family of Arkansas hillbillies, it did not compute to them that they had to follow a host country's rules and couldn't push their own rules on them.

I'm such a dumb fucking idiot and it has ruined my confidence (anus)

So I (22 male) have always been fucked in the head. Starting a few years ago, I started experiencing with anal play while masturbating. Well, it went way overboard and I bought a huge sex toy and basically made it fit in my ass even though it hurt a bit. I'm fucked in the head, yes. Then about 4 months ago I had my anal virginity taken by an old man who surprise fisted me with 4 fingers inside and rotating the hand too. Both of these activities have stretched/worn out the skin around my anus (due to the anus being forced to expand). So now it's like I have excess skin around the asshole (not hemorrhoids).

Now my problem is that I got this loose "extra" skin and my ass falls out a little after I poop. If I squat down naked I can see some skin hanging down behind the asshole where my ass crack is supposed to be. It looks fucking awful and I feel like I'm an 70 year old man with anal prolapse. I already look fucked up and worn out, how am I gonna look when I'm 40? There's no way a medical procedure can fix this. I'm willing to post photos but I really just kind of wanna sleep forever. I don't know how I've managed to ruin myself so much...

I want to start over but that's not possible and it's just over for me. I'm so fucking tired of hurting about how big of a piece of shit I am. I have RUINED my own body. At this point trying to get better is only going to feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. I just wanna fucking cry in bed and stop going to the gym / work / talk to anyone. I really dont want anyone to say "you're depressed so seek help" or something. This is the cause of my sadness. Either it ends or I do.

Did you ask a doctor?

If you leave your arse alone for a few months it will be as tight and fresh as when it was new.

If fat people's entire skin can bounce back when they lose 60kg your arse certainly can.

I can forgive him that one - LA traffic (and traffic/road congestion in the US generally) has to be seen to be believed. The clue with that one was that he gave it all away, doesn't really believe in it. This project is just a bit nuts.

LA is a properly mental city. It's just miles and miles and miles of perfectly rectangular grid. It's a wonder anybody can get anywhere, but then it's also a wonder people can't just avoid the traffic by taking exactly the same route two or three blocks over and then correcting at the end.

I bet there have been all sorts of interesting studies into how the traffic works.

I've driven in LA rush hour traffic and yes, it's slow and of large proportions, but I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be. The major problem is that our septic cousins have no idea to drive.

I remember having debates on several occasions with yanks, and they can't seem to understand that if you leave a gap for people to merge in, traffic flows smoother. They always said "but I want to get there first!" without understanding that if everyone wants to get there first, nobody's getting there any faster.

My Yank friend was shouting at me, terrified, when I saw someone wanting to change lanes coming up to a red light, so I stopped leaving 2 car lengths for him to come across. My friend was absolutely convinced someone was going to slam into the back of me, without understanding that the people behind me can't see what's in front, so how is leaving a gap any different to there being cars there? As a result, the fella got into my lane (and actually looked back out of his car in amazement that someone let him in), and he didn't have to force his way across when the lights went green.

The telling thing I find is when there is ever a video of a pedestrian getting hit by a car on reedit they lose their minds talking about how they deserve it. Even when the car is driving on the wrong side of the street at high speed they will downvote an idea of sense that the car driver reckless or that being able to cross a road is a basic human right. No concept of anything other than 'car go VROOOM!'

438745 Of .gs and dot-coms: a memorial for the future
My mates were over on Saturday night. One of them used my phone to add some shit to the party playlist and noticed that I had /*/ open on my mobile's Chrome.

They both exclaimed about how they'd forgotten about this place and seemed humoured at the fact that it still existed in some dusty old corner of the web and more to the point that I still used it to chat shit with the same few faceless strangers. Joke's on them - we've got Discord and compulsory screen names now(!)

The gesture made me (possibly unreasonably) pensive. I cast a thought to the impromptu domain expiry of a few months back and how easily it was for those of us still visiting this shrine of yesteryear to lose touch with it entirely outside of direct IP access and/or signposting via other media. It reminded me of the countless other sites and networks that had come and gone during the web's golden age and how they have largely been refined to colloquial in-jokes and references uttered in increasingly smaller circles.

Bebo was bought out and sold to Amazon's Twitch last year after they outbid Discord for the rights.
Digg is now some bottom of the barrel clickbait site that nobody reads.
Livejournal, Xanga, and acrobat have gone the way of being overblown by the wave of in-your-face amateurish long-reads and social media formatting that has plagued Medium since its inception.
Myspace... exists.
What next and what will we remember of it?

To borrow a term from The Other Place, I suppose you could consider this the .gs "doomer" thread, though one of dead pixels and cleared gigabytes rather than apocalyptic neo-plagues.

Lads, I've been having a think.

The modern world means that you can stream whatever form of entertainment you want directly into your living room; sports, films, TV, you name it. I think we need to stop looking at streaming in a purely digital sense and start looking at it in a physical sense.

Imagine having a tap which means you can stream whatever you want that can flow down the pipes. You want some custard? There's a tap for that. You want some mashed potato? There's a tap for that. You want some gravy? There's a tap for that. We need to move from apps to taps and pipes. It would be revolutionary. Imagine the carbon footprint saved from lorries no longer having to deliver these loads to the supermarket and then for individual shoppers to go one-by-one to buy it and take it home. The likes of warm custard cooked en masse in one central bulk must surely be more efficient than the piecemeal approach of innumerable households cooking meals themselves on hobs and in ovens.

Obviously Big Shop will kick up a fuss as we cut out the middleman and there will be the initial outlay of creating a national network of pipes, but the long-term benefits would far outweigh it. It would be the next true industrial revolution.

Seconding this. If you experience positive results I might try it myself, for the sake of .gs peer review on how to attain more frequent stiffies. We're all getting on a bit by now it seems like.

Personally there's nothing wrong with my libido; the trouble is more that I just can't be bothered to shag half the time. I'm not sure how anybody has the energy after a day at work, let alone how I used to stay up til 3am smoking and fucking, and still get up at 7 for work the next day.

Sorry lads, the pouch has been sitting in my kitchen for a while now and I've only tried it once, in a fruit smoothie, so I haven't been eating it consistently. I'll report back when I have something to report. It does taste pretty awful though.

I've been on plenty of drugs but I'd don't think there's enough heroin in the world to sedate me enough to not be annoyed by him buzzing about the room shouting wanky wanky.

It's used by characters that are objectively bad people, that's sort of the point.

Do you think films about dolphin rape should also never be talked about again? Get to fuck you melt.

This is the grammar school name. The colloquial name is Consequences. I'm sure in my family we called it something else but I can't remember now. Like ching chang chong for rock paper scissors. Are there any other names for it?

Consequences is the older version that's a narrative instead of a drawing. Exquisite corpse is the version the surrealists came up with, drawings.

Hangman.
And also those variants of Noughts and Crosses which use a grid larger than 3x3, because once you've worked out a technique for the 3x3 version it's easy enough to just consistently force a draw.

So I don't know the English name for this game and the wiki page doesn't have an English version it seems: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stadt,_Land,_Fluss

Basically you write down categories, some things like name-city-animal are pretty standard but you can other categories to your groups liking and tune it for your specific autism. Then someone picks a letter or you randomize it somehow and for that letter everyone privately writes down things of that category starting with that letter.

Empty box or invalid thing (i.e. not an animal in an animal box): 0 pts
Box with something valid: 10 pts, except
Someone else wrote the EXACT same thing: 5 pts
If no one else managed to fill that box, you get 20 pts

Was part of family fun growing up for me and recently played it with the missus and it was still fun

I've heard this simply called "categories", perhaps with a randomly chosen keyword that selects the initial letter for each row.
This is actually the game I had in mind for this thread but couldn't myself remember what it was called or how to search for it until seeing your post!
